An accident during the overnight hours of March 12 has left a 16-year-old dead. The incident occurred in DeKalb County on Northcrest Road and Chamblee-Tucker Road.

The teenager was behind the wheel of the single car involved in the crash and was found dead by DeKalb County Police officers.

The principal of Lakeside High School identified the student who died as Guillermo Aguas-Bahena, Class of 2025. The other student has been identified as Alex Vegas, Class of 2025. The third person in the car was not identified in the principal’s letter, although they too were taken to the hospital. Early indications are that both surviving students are expected to be fine.

As the investigation continues, details surrounding the crash’s circumstances are unavailable.

It was initially reported that the accident also affected powerlines in the area, leading to speculation that the car may have crashed into a utility pole. The latter has not been confirmed.
