A crash occurred on I-20 West at Windsor Street and Spring Street just before 6 a.m. on October 3. Rather than stick around, the driver who hit the other car fled the scene, leaving the person they’d just hit to wait for the police. APD arrived shortly after to secure the scene and collect any possible evidence.
The investigation shut down all westbound lanes, which negatively impacted commuters on their way to work. The road was closed for about an hour.
Thankfully, it doesn’t appear as if the occupants of the car that was hit were injured.
The driver who decided to speed away from the area certainly made things worse for other members of the community and may have made a bad situation, worse. Authorities do not tend to sympathize with people who flee the scene, and the driver will likely face criminal penalties when they are eventually located.
