In the afternoon hours of Mother’s Day on May 14, a mother-daughter duo was severely injured in a car crash. The four-year-old child got the worst of it, and she was critically hurt by the accident that took place in the 2500 block of Candler Road in Decatur.

The 28-year-old woman was also notably injured, and both individuals were taken to the hospital via an ambulance.

The vehicle that struck the pair has not been identified according to public reports, but it was confirmed that the driver did remain at the scene to field questions from authorities.

It does not appear as if the driver of this car was injured.

The investigation remains ongoing, as it’s unclear what caused the car to strike the young woman and young girl. Details surrounding a potential mechanical malfunction, or circumstances with the driver themselves will likely be available in the near future.
