Unfortunately, two construction workers are fighting for their lives after they were struck under the Interstate 75 overpass on Roswell Road. During the early hours of the morning on March 12, 38-year-old Jimmy Varraza and 28-year-old Oscar Aguilar were in the process of doing their jobs when the unfortunate incident took place.

They were setting up a directional board to facilitate a lane closure, but the driver of a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta did not stop as this was taking place. The vehicle crashed into the board and hit the two men, who were transported to Grady Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are still hoping to track down the driver of the Volkswagen, who fled the scene after the incident took place.

“Our investigators made contact with the registered owner and discovered it(the car) had not been reported stolen. They are still working with the registered owner to determine who was driving at the time of the accident,” said Marietta Police spokesperson Charles McPhilamy. Via 11Alive.com

It’s unclear if anyone else was in the car with the driver during the time the incident took place.
