The greater metro Atlanta area is grieving this week after 77 year-old Eleanor Bowles’ life was taken in the garage of her Buckhead home. She was attacked trying to thwart the efforts of 23-year-old Antonio Brown, who broke in and tried to take off with her 2021 Lexus RS350.
The young man stabbed Bowles during the horrible incident that took place on December 10. Brown has been arrested, and is being held in the Fulton County Jail on several charges, including murder, elder abuse, aggravated battery and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony.
The incident comes at a very difficult time for the Bowles family, as Eleanor Bowles was hosting family this holiday season.
“The son came home to visit his mom for the holidays,” said Deputy Chief Charles Hampton. “This is not the way that a family should have to spend their holiday season, mourning and grieving the death of a loved one.” Via WSBTV.com
According to reports, this is not the first time that Brown has been in trouble with the law, and the authorities have acknowledged his checkered past, which includes an assault against a family member.
Brown was arrested in August 2020 for assault, and was accused of grabbing his mother by her neck while holding a knife.
Brown’s family released a statement on Sunday condemning the suspect’s actions, saying “The tragedy visited upon their family, and our relative’s involvement, is senseless and inexcusable.”
Bowles’ loss will continue to be felt into the new year and beyond, as she has been described as a loving individual.
“She was just one of the most wonderful people that you could have asked for. Devoted to her sons and granddaughters,” said friend Annette Loper. Via WSBTV.com
