Interstate 75 NB near Delk Road was the scene of a harrowing crash on the morning of April 30 that left at least a couple of people injured.

According to information released by Marietta police, the incident started when 29-year-old Quashawn Gentry lost control of his car. It’s not clear whether this took place because of a mechanical shortcoming or factors related to Gentry’s state of mind.

Be that as it may, his 2010 Toyota Corolla struck a 2015 Toyota Highlander, which was being driven by 48-year-old Leticia Selgado. Gentry’s car came to a stop in the middle of the interstate.

After the two vehicles made contact, Selgado moved her Highlander to the side of the road. Gentry and the Corolla remained in the middle of the road, and Gentry was struck by at least one car after he exited his vehicle.

Gentry was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

To add to matters, three other cars would hit the Corolla while it was situated on the interstate. A 2018 Volvo S90, a 2019 McLaren 570S, and a 2001 Hyundai Elantra all made contact. These three vehicles were driven by 44-year-old Robert Moody, 39-year-old Mercer Piper, and 54-year-old Corey Griffin.

Moody and Piper were reported to be fine coming out of their respective incidents, but Griffin was also taken to WellStar Kennestone for medical treatment of what was described as minor injuries.

Unfortunately, this turned into a multi-car event that affected the lives of multiple people, and information surrounding the circumstances and medical situations of those involved is still being disseminated.
