Unfortunately, those who rely on MARTA train service were negatively impacted by a service disruption during the morning of August 7. This was caused due to an individual being struck by a northbound train at the Garnett station.

The identity of the individual has not been released to the public, but they are currently undergoing medical treatment. As the investigation remains ongoing, we’re also not sure of the person’s physical condition at this time.

MARTA executives decided to de-energize power from the Garnett station to Five Points, which likely impacted a high volume of commuters. In order to help assuage the inconvenience, MARTA has offered an $8 credit to anyone affected so they can complete their commute via Uber or Lyft. While the tracks were de-energized, police remained on hand to determine the events that led up to the person being struck by the train.
