A fatal crash involving a pedestrian led to the closure of all northbound lanes on the Downtown Connector Wednesday morning. The Georgia Department of Transportation reported to FOX 5 that the accident occurred just before 5:30 a.m. on Interstate 75/85 near University Avenue.

The pedestrian was declared deceased at the location by medical officials, as confirmed by the Atlanta Police Department. The reasons for the pedestrian being on the road at the time are currently unclear.

Following the accident, all lanes were initially closed. By 8:30 a.m., some lanes had reopened, but traffic remained heavily congested. Motorists were advised to expect significant delays and consider alternative routes until the area is fully reopened.
